Figes continues goal charge for UNSW Wests Magpies

14 March 2011

Great Britain captain Craig Figes scored seven in two games to inspire UNSW Wests Magpies to a six point weekend in the Australian National League.

Figes netted four in his side’s home tie against KFC Old Breakers before bagging a hat-trick in the return leg as Wests secured a comfortable 10-3 victory.

Sean King scored once as SV Weiden rounded off their regular season with a victory.

With their position in the 5-8 playoffs of the German Bundesliga guaranteed, King’s side beat SSV Esslingen 15-11 to maintain their sixth position in the regular season table.

Adam Scholefield’s PVSK also secured valuable points in the Hungarian National League, clinching a 10-7 away victory at OSC.

There were British goals galore in the Dutch Hoofdklasse as four players found the net over the weekend.

Dan Laxton continued his hot streak in front of goal, bagging two for AZ&PC in a 4-4 draw with MNC Dordrecht.

Mike Bourne bagged a hat-trick for PSV as they secured a tight 11-9 victory over relegation rivals Haegheborgh HZ Zian.

Ric Lawlor also found the net a day later for PSV but his double wasn’t enough to prevent an 11-10 defeat to UZSC for whom Alex Parsonage scored twice.

Charles Booth’s Het Ravijn had less success, slipping to a 16-7 defeat to Widex GZC Donk on Saturday and a 15-8 loss to Electrolux AZC on Sunday.
