King and Ryder combine for Weiden victory
6th February 2012
Sean King and Sean Ryder combined to help SV Weiden see off Will Middleton’s SC Wedding Berlin as the German Bundesliga returned to action.
King struck four times and Ryder twice as their side secured a 13-11 home win.
The British pair were back in action the following day and while both players scored twice more, they couldn’t prevent Weiden slipping to a 9-8 extra time defeat at SpVg Laatzen.
Elsewhere in Germany, Ciaran James’ SV Cannstatt continued to dominate Group B as they won 20-7 at home to SGW Rh./Blw. Koln while Jake Vincent’s Bayer Uerdingen were edged out 11-9 at ASC Duisburg.
All five Brits played in the Spanish Division de Honor this weekend with Rob Parker and Jack Waller ending up on winning teams.
Parker found the net twice as his CN Terrassa saw off CD Navarra in a 18-10 win while Waller’s CN Sant Andreu won 12-8 at Ed Scott’s CE Mediterrani.
Meanwhile, Mike Bourne scored a hat-trick and Ric Lawlor added another for CD Turia in their 19-7 defeat at home to CN Mataro Quadis.
Finally, goalkeeper Matt Holland’s Aix-en-Provence were downed 13-7 at FNC Douai in the French Elite League.
