Laxton continues Hoofdklasse hot streak
31st October 2011
A quiet weekend on the domestic front in Europe saw only three British players in action for their clubs.
Centre forward Dan Laxton continued his impressive scoring run for Dutch club AZ&PC, bagging a hat-trick as they saw off BZC Brandenburg in the Hoofdklasse.
Laxton has now scored eight in his last four games for the Dutch side who lie fifth in the league after securing their fifth victory of the season with a 17-7 home win.
Adam Scholefield and Joe O’Regan were the other two Brits in action, playing twice for PVSK-Fuszert in the Hungarian Vodafone OB I league.
PVSK welcomed league leaders Szeged on Saturday and while both Brits found the net, the home team eventually succumbed to an 18-11 defeat.
Scholefield and O’Regan both found the net again in their away fixture at unbeaten Groupama Honved the following day but after pulling to 6-6 at the end of their third quarter, PVSK ran out of steam in the final eight minutes and slipped to a 13-7 loss.
Next weekend sees the Spanish Division de Honor return to action as well as the opening fixtures in the German Bundesliga.
