Weiden slip up as Scolefield’s PVSK secure vital win in Hungary
10 December 2010
Goals from Great Britain players Sean King and Jack Waller couldn’t prevent SV Weiden slipping to defeat at SGW Hannover in Group A of the German Bundesliga.
SV Weiden were riding high in third in the league but after dropping to a 6-2 deficit at the half-way stage, couldn’t climb back into the match.
King and Waller both found the net once but Hannover goalkeeper and man of the match Roger Kong kept Weiden at bay as the match finished 8-5.
With the Netherlands in international World League action, the six Great Britain players at various Hoofdklasse clubs had a week off from domestic action.
There was no such break for Adam Scholefield’s PSVK-Fuszert in the Hungarian National League as they played a mid-week fixture against OSC.
And PVSK secured a comfortable victory on the day, winning 11-6 after establishing a 6-1 lead in the first quarter, and moving up to eighth after their second win of the season.
