Update from the 2010 Women`s European Junior Championships

Keep up to date with the Junior Women’s GB Water Polo Team from the 2010 Women`s European Junior Championships. This blog comes from Head Coach, Nick Hume.

The Junior women are currently in the middle of playing in the European Championships in Ukraine.

...this result also means it’s the first time at European Youth level GB will finish in the top eight

We started with a very competitive game against Hungary. Unfortunately we lost 13-5, but our performance was strong.

After that game the scores started to better reflect our performance. We followed up with two strong wins over Serbia 17-4 and Ukraine 17-6.

Yesterday we played Germany and I am very pleased to say that we won 15-5. A fantastic result in which we secured a couple of firsts.

It was the first time GB has beaten Germany in a European Championships. And this result also means it’s the first time at European Youth level GB will finish in the top eight.

The girls showed plenty of courage and should be proud of a great result. Please leave your messages of support below.

Scores were: 1st Qtr 2-1; 2nd Qtr 7-3; 3rd Qtr 10-4; 4th Qtr 15-5.

Today we play the highly fancied Russians!

Hi Joanne, the picture was put in as a holding picture until we wait for pictures from the event. We should have them later and then we’ll post. We have changed it for a generic picture until then. Sorry for any confusion.

Just wondering why you have a picture of the Manchester Team with this article, would have liked to see my daughter up there as she is part of the GB Team playing their hearts out in the Ukraine !!
