Woman up - the monthly blog of the GB Women’s Water Polo Team - August update
Don’t miss out on the action. Keep up with the Women’s GB Water Polo team through their monthly blog. This month Angie Winstanley-Smith talks about time off and the tasks ahead.
July was an absolutely brilliant month! From surfing in Biarritz, camping, to watching the World Cup final in Spain!
Medicine balls haven’t been introduced yet, but I think I’ve time travelled back to my competitive swimming days!
One big lesson learned though: even if you are a good swimmer (yes us polo players are ok at swimming!) be careful in the Atlantic Ocean, or you could nearly have to be saved by a lifeguard! This happened to one member of the squad whose name I won’t mention to save them the embarrassment!
Why is it that time off goes so quickly? We have already been back in training a week. I’m sure it’s the same for everyone but all-over body ache after holidays is always fun! We are currently loving the Hungarian philosophy of no pain no gain, holidays are for wimps and more is definitely…erm,...more!!

But we know we do this for a reason, and we certainly have a lot to look forward too!
First up a trip to Germany (hopefully with a win to pick up where we left off) then building up to the Commonwealth Games in October.
