Go Swimming has everything you need to know about swimming. If you are a parent, a non swimmer or just want to improve your technique this is the section for you.

In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Francesca Clayton

Fran Clayton comes from a strong water polo family background, following in the footsteps of her mother Judi who was a captain of the GB team.

After linking up with the senior team for the first time in 2007, she was involved in the age group teams at consecutive European Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009 before playing a part in the gold medal-winning European Nations Trophy side at Manchester in 2009.

She quickly established herself as a first team regular, playing in World League qualifiers in 2010 and helping the Brits reach their first senior European Championships in 15 years during 2011.

Over the next two seasons, she played with the British team at the 2012 European Championships, London 2012 Olympic Games and 2013 World Championships.

Greatest achievement to date: Beating Greece in the 2011 World League / winning the European B Championships in 2009

When did you start playing water polo: I started at Bedale Swimming and Water Polo Club at the age of eight. But I've been attending matches for as long as I can remember.

Out Of The Pool

Other sports: My favourite is gymnastics but I don't compete any more.

Ultimate relaxation: Spa if it's on offer or the sofa with a duvet, a film and some chocolate.

One thing you can't live without: Ludo...

Tip for the top: Love the pain.

Life after water polo: Not sure there is one?

Food: Anything except seafood... but mainly steak!
