In the Pool

Greatest achievement to date: Beating the current World Champions, Greece, at World League 2011.

Aspirations:  To make the final team for London 2012 and to be competitive at the Games which will hopefully lead to a medal!

Greatest influence: My grandparents especially my grandfather.  He fought for Britain in WW2 and was badly wounded and now I fight for Britain but in a slightly different type of battle!

When did you begin playing Water Polo: Aged 11, at school.

Out of the Pool

Studies/Work: I work part time at the University of Manchester just across the road from our training pool.

Ultimate relaxation: We do watch quite a lot of tv in our house but the ultimate relaxation would be lying on a tropical beach!

One thing you can’t live without: Skype – so I can speak to my family in NZ

Tip for the top: Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.

Life after water polo:  As much travelling as I can afford!

Favourites

Films: Thrillers like Hostage or Taken but I am also a Harry Potter fan!

Band/Music: Lots… Shapeshifter, Hot Chip, Fatboy Slim, Groovearmada, Fat Freddy’s Drop…

Food: Our favourite quick dinner to make after training at the moment is Quesadilas, we have them at least once a week!

Drink: I don’t like fizzy drinks so juices or fresh fruit smoothies!

Sportsperson: We’ve been watching quite a lot of the athletics recently, Mo Farrah is an incredible athlete! And Beckham of course.

Most prized possession: A gold broach my grandmother gave me for my 21st birthday which her grandmother gave to her, it is over 150 years old.
