In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Katie Hesketh

Katie Hesketh is another to have made the step up to the British senior team from the succesful international age group squads between 2010 and 2012.

After helping the British team to an historic seventh place at the 2010 European Junior Championships in Ukraine, Hesketh became one of the stars of the team in 2011.

She was named MVP of the Olympic Hopes junior tournament in Prague then finished fourth top goalscorer as she captained the Brits to ninth at the European Juniors in Spain.

Hesketh's 10 goals helped the Brits to another seventh place finish at the 2012 European Under 19 Championships in Russia before she starred again at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Greece, finding the net in six out of seven matches as her 13 goals helped the team to the quarter finals and eventually an eighth place finish.

Tips for the top: Never give up if you enjoy it and put 100% effort in.

Life after water polo: Hopefully have a job in sport still, a sports nutritionist perhaps.

Film: Such a hard question because I’m such a film buff! Remember the Titans is up there though! Along with any Disney film!

Band/music: Cheesy music, 90s songs are always on my ipod! UK top 40.

Food: Hardest question ever, I love food! I’ll have to say any type of fish.
