Women’s Senior Squad

The British Gas GBR Women’s Water Polo Team are building up to compete at the London 2012 Olympics.

Both men's and women's teams were assured of their place by the BOA in March 2011, meaning a British women's team will contest in the Olympic Games for the first time in history.

The women have work in a programme with Water Polo bringing a bigger focus on being full-time athletes.

They have been required to stop work full-time, allocating two-and-a-half days a week for purely Water Polo and two-and-a-half days to work in-between training.  This means we have time to work with them outside the pool with our new “Out of the Pool Programme” and with effective video sessions and opposition analysis.

In the pool, the team have enjoyed increasing success, recording victories over European heavyweights such as Greece, Italy and Germany in recent years.

The women also took part in the competitive Hungarian National League in the 2010/2011 domestic season to aid their development.
