GLL is looking for an aquatics manager to be responsible for the development and delivery of aquatics within the London borough of Tower Hamlets. This role includes the management and ownership of delivery by GLL’s swimming teachers/coaches and the development of partnerships to deliver aquatic disciplines in the borough.

The role of the aquatics manager requires a vibrant, enthusiastic and professional individual who will develop the aquatic pathway structure across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This is a funded, two year fixed term opportunity

Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Develop the structure for the aquatic pathway across the Borough
  • Management of a pool programme review
  • Develop clear development pathways for aquatics at all levels
  • Engage with schools and aquatic clubs in the Borough to ensure provision of a seamless pathway from grass roots to elite level.
  • Produce and manage the delivery of a Borough aquatics development strategy
  • Provide and deliver a cross cutting plan for aquatics which incorporates health, education and social agendas
  • Work with clubs to co-ordinate and deliver talent identification programme and training and coach education
  • Implement a multi aquatics development plan

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven sports development and swimming programme background at a high level for minimum of 2 years
  • Understanding of local, regional and national strategies for aquatics
  • Good communication skills
  • Proven experience of working with swimming clubs and national governing bodies of aquatics and sport
  • Proven financial and budgetary skills of a large sporting programme
  • Swimming teaching/coaching qualification (Minimum UKCC Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Good understanding of the leisure, aquatics, athlete pathways, Swim 21 and Long Term Athlete Development
  • Proven understanding of leisure industry
  • Understanding of the impact of cultural issues and disabilities relating to aquatics
