Nottingham City Council is looking to recruit Level 1 qualified assistant swimming teachers to join their large Nottingham Swim School programme that is delivered from seven city council pools across the city.

The hours available on offer vary across the leisure centres. Nottingham Swim School mainly takes place Monday to Friday 4pm-7.30pm and weekends 8am-1pm. There may be opportunity to also become involved in other swimming projects with additional hours available.

Nottingham City Council offers highly competitive rates of pay starting at £8.45 per hour and rising to £8.50 on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period. The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Following lesson plans ensuring classes are progressive, motivating, inclusive and adequate for the level of the needs of the group.

  • Assist in the organisation of all the resources including registers, swim equipment set up and the collection of IPod devices and help towards ensuring all lessons start on time.

  • Support the swimming teacher to deliver high quality swimming lessons.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 1 in Teaching Aquatics qualification.

  • Experience of supporting/assisting in the delivery of sporting activities.

  • Knowledge of the Swim England Learn to Swim frameworks and awards scheme.
