European Junior champion Luke Greenbank is among the County Team Champs entries for 2014, with the star name set to compete at this month’s season opening at Ponds Forge.
The 17-year old has enjoyed a year to remember in 2014, winning 200m Backstroke gold on his European Junior debut in Dordrecht before adding a hat-trick of golds over 200m Back, 100m Fly and 200m Fly at the ASA National Championships.
And Greenbank will be aiming to carry over that form into the new season by continuing his impressive record for Cumbria at the County Team Championships.
After bagging 36 individual points on his debut in 2010, the teenager repeated the feat in 2011 before completing the 100m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly double for 40 points in the past two seasons.
His performances last year helped Cumbria finish fourth in Division Two and gain promotion to the top flight for the first time since they were relegated in 2001.
That season was also the last time a county other than Lancashire finished top of Division One, the Red Rose having landed a 12th consecutive title with victory in 2013.
Lancashire look set to put in a stubborn defense of their crown with seven of their squad of 22 having won individual medals at August’s National Age Groups or National Youth Championships.
Border rivals Yorkshire have been runners-up for the past two seasons and may well challenge again with European Junior medallist Amelia Clynes one of 11 on their roster to have collected an individual National medal in 2014.
