Frank Clewlow honoured at national SOUK Awards

Frank Clewlow was honoured at the 2016 Sports Officials UK (SOUK) National Officiating Awards on the 26 October 2016.

The event took place at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwick. Frank received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his involvement in diving at all levels.

Frank has been involved in the Southampton Diving Academy and the South East Region for many years.

As well as the Regional ASA Diving Manager, he was a member of the ASA Diving Management Group (previously ASA Diving Committee) for 10 years before stepping down in 2016.

Frank has been recorder at many British and ASA national events, and was Assistant Chief Recorder at the 2012 Olympics and 2014 Commonwealth Games. Frank’s laid back approach and sense of humour helps to ensure things go smoothly at events.

He also regularly delivers training courses and has been instrumental in testing the Dive Recorder scoring software used in diving.

Frank said: “I have had the most amazing time during my journey as an official and I’ve met some incredible people along the way. It’s wonderful to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, but diving is just something I’m so passionate about.

There are so many people out there who do exactly as I do and are as equally deserving.

Susie Bamber also received recognition at the event. She is an international diving judge and popular course tutor. Susie was a finalist in the Officials Developer of the Year category for her work developing judges.

Becky Milnes, ASA National Development Officer Diving, said: “I’m delighted for Frank. This is the first time that we’ve had a winner from diving and it couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person.

“Congratulations must also go to Susie Bamber for her nomination – it’s fantastic to see the hard work and dedication of our volunteers recognised.”
