Tom Daley wins World Series bronze in Beijing

Tom Daley won 10m Platform bronze on the final day of the FINA Diving World Series 2017 leg in Beijing.

Competing in his competitive Platform event of the year, the double Olympic medallist scored 520.35 in the final.

He joined China’s Chen Aisen (556.25) and Yang Hao (554.70) on the podium.

Daley had already won the National Cup Mixed 3m Synchro title with Scotland’s Grace Reid last month. He also finished fourth with Reid in the same event on day two in Beijing.

But it is from the 10m platform that Daley has won medals at two consecutive Olympics.

And the English diver’s performances suggest he is on track to being a competitive force again this season.

Daley recovers from second round slip in semis

Daley had no problems easing through the semi finals, recovering from a dropped dive in the second round to progress second on 464.20.

A sharper performance in the final saw him score over 83 points for all six dives, including 95.40 for his ultimate back 2 ½ somersaults piked.

The next leg of the 2017 FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2017 takes place in Guangzhou City from 9 – 11 March.
