Tom Daley wins World Series platform bronze in Windsor

Tom Daley won 10m Platform bronze at the final leg of the 2017 FINA Diving World Series in Canada.

The double Olympic medallist scored 493.80 to finish behind China’s Chen Aisen (569.10) and Yang Hao (564.50) at the event in Windsor.

The English diver’s result continues his record of reaching the podium at every leg of this year’s World Series, having won a silver and two bronzes over the previous three legs.

Daley qualified for the final with a score of 539.85 to win his semi. He scored over 90 points for three of his six dives, including 103.60 for his penultimate 109C (forward 4 ½ somersaults with tuck).

And while a dropped effort for the same dive in the final meant he didn’t quite match his semi-final score, Daley bounced back with 106.20 for his last dive, a 207B (back triple 3 ½ somersaults piked).

Daley and Reid miss bronze by 0.03 points

Daley nearly landed a second medal in the same day as he finished fourth in the Mixed 3m Synchro.

Teaming up with Scotland’s Grace Reid, the pair scored 308.79, missing out on bronze by just 0.03 points as Australia’s Maddison Keeney and Kevin Chavez sealed the third spot on the podium.

City of Leeds’ teenager Kat Torrance was the only other British finalist of the day, finishing sixth in the 3m Springboard.

Torrance scored 291.30 in the final, having qualified with 294.60 from the semis.
