2008 Winners
Bronze: Splash Swim School; Exminster, Exeter.
During the Summer Term 2007 swimmers from the Splash Swim School raised £2711.08 for Breast Cancer. They repeated their effort in the Summer Term 2008 and raised a further £2425.25 achieving the Gold Level of fundraising for the Breast Cancer Campaign..
Silver: Carol Sanderson
Age 45
Killingworth, Newscaster-upon-Tyne
Carol is a wheelchair-user who needs round the clock care but swims to keep herself mobile. She has been raising money for the North Tyneside Carers Centre by swimming the equivalent of the channel and aising £1,000.
Gold: Cameron Hopkinson
Age 10
Worksop, Nottinghamshire
For his Chief Scout Silver Award, Cameron chose to swim the equivalent of the English Channel and raised sponsorship money at the same time – even though he didn’t have to, raising over £500. The money has been split between cubs, his football club and swimming club to say thank you to his teachers, coaches and leaders and enable others to enjoy the activities he has.
