GOLD - Chetwynde School, Barrow-in-Furniss, Cumbria

The Cumbrian school has been awarded the English School Swimming Association’s Dolphin Trophy because in 2009/2010 they ensured every pupil from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were able to swim 100 metres.

Sport has always been an important part of life at Chetwynde School and swimming is a particular strength, with successes regularly achieved in national competitions by school teams and individuals.

The school began in 1938 as a small preparatory school and is now one of the most successful independent schools in the country.
