Bigger and better for 2011

Kellogg’s ASA Swimtastic Awards reward outstanding non-elite achievements and unsung swimming stars across the country, and for 2011 we have made them bigger and better.

The glittering 5 November ‘Oscar-style’ awards ceremony will be held for the first time this year at  Ponds Forge in Sheffield, one of the best aquatics venues in the UK.  Further fireworks lighting up the event is the chance for winners to make a splash in the pool with Olympic heroes. Read about the 2010 winners here.

Athletes attending the ‘Swim with the Stars’ afternoon, include:

Nick Robinson-Baker
Asha Randall
Jenna Randall
Olivia Allison
Cassie Patten
Lauren Smith
Fran Leighton
Amelia Maughan
Sophie Allen
Hannah Miley
Ann Morris
Emma Hollis
James Hollis

Katie Brazier, the ASA’s Sponsorship Director, said: “The ASA organises the Kellogg’s ASA Swimtastic Awards because it is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the amazing achievements of people across all levels and areas of our sport.”

“We know there are thousands of unsung swimming stars out there."

Bruce Learner, Head of Corporate Responsibility & Partnerships at Kellogg’s, said: “These swimming awards recognise those special people who have achieved a little more than the rest of us in the pool. It’s a fantastic event where we hear such inspirational stories so make sure you nominate someone close to you for your chance to join the celebrations!”

“In 2011 we have a new award to recognise the amazing support that parents give their kids. Mums and Dads all over the UK make huge sacrifices to support their children on their swimming journeys. I suspect many of them wouldn’t see their efforts as a sacrifice, but we’d like to recognise them anyway, which is why we’ve created the new Swimtastic Award for Parents.”

The Awards are divided into 11 clear categories, acknowledging people of all ages and abilities.
