The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

Description

This qualification is aimed at those interested in the teaching programme in a learn to swim environment utilising the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) (or equivalent scheme).

Once qualified the holder of the ASA Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics (QCF) will be equipped to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of consecutive sessions within the context of a self prepared scheme of work.

Course Prerequisites

Learners must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of the learning programme.

Learners must be holders of either:

o ASA Level 1 Award in Teaching Aquatics (QCF) - January 2011 onwards

o ASA UKCC Level 1 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics - 2006-2010

o Level 1 Certificate for Teaching Swimming post 2002

o ASA Assistant Teacher Certificate (teaching aquatics) post Sept 1994

o NCTP Module 1 and 2 & QTS/HLTA status

OR
Gained exemption prior to enrolment on the learning programme from the ASA

It is also recommended learners hold a valid CRB Certificate
