Make a splash with British Gas SwimBritain

SwimBritain is an event which aims to inspire more people across Britain to swim more regularly.

The event, part of the ASA and British Gas partnership, is designed to be suitable for anyone, which means even if you’re not a hugely strong swimmer or even overly fit, you can still dive in and make a splash.

The event runs in September each year and is fun for all the family. To enter all you have to do it get a team of four together, either family or friends or a combination of both, then find a SwimBritain pool which will run the event.

Your team will be required to complete a swimming relay and you have a choice of two distances depending on your experience and ability.

  • SwimBritain 500 provides the perfect distance for beginners or those less confident in the water, with each team member swimming four legs of 125m.
  • SwimBritain 1000 offers more of a challenge, with each member doubling the distance to four legs of 250m.

There are 10 event pools across the UK in 2014 including the London Aquatic Centre at the Olympic Park in London and Tollcross Commonwealth Pool in Glasgow. You can also choose to do your relay in Open Water at the Great Lake at Blenheim Palace in Oxford.
