The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Every year we celebrate all of those athletes who have completed the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme with a glittering graduation ceremony.

For most athletes, graduation is reward in itself... but others will pick up additional honours for the work they have achieved during their time with AASE. Every year, an Apprentice of the Year is crowned from each disciplines. Use the links below to find out about past winners.

94 athletes graduated from the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme in March 2009 but five of these collected an extra honour … being named ‘Advanced Apprentice of the Year 2009’.
