As an aspiring coach, this course will equip you with the knowledge and tools to actively support an artistic swimming coach in the delivery of a planned training session.

We work with Swim England to provide subsidised coaching courses for their clubs. These courses are arranged in partnership with  Swim England’s regional teams. If you can not see a course in your area, please contact your local regional team to express your interest.

Who is the course designed for?

Anyone who wants to take the first step in becoming an artistic swimming coach or interested in supporting a coach in a club environment.

Course content

The course is delivered through a mixture of zoom classroom activities and practical poolside learning. You will participate in training sessions to gain hands-on practical experience.

You will learn about:

  • The role of the assistant coach
  • The fundamentals of artistic swimming
  • How to safely prepare, support and conclude coached artistic swimming sessions
  • Basic and artistic swimming specific coaching skills
  • Coach and performer development
  • Good practice in coaching ethics
  • Health and safety

Prerequisites

You must be at least 16 years of age. There are no formal entry requirements for this certificate and you do not need any previous experience of coaching.

Training Format

Blended Learning

This course allows you to make the most of learning online and will cover the course theory through interactive, live zoom webinars. The zoom webinars will be with the rest of your course cohort and from the comfort of your own home. Once you get to the venue, you’ll have pool-based practical work, session delivery and assessment to complete.
