16 May 2012

Baby and toddler swimming instructors are to benefit from a brand new specialised qualification that leads the way in providing a world class network of highly qualified teachers.

The qualification has been developed by the national governing body for swimming the ASA and the world’s largest baby swimming company Water Babies Ltd, who have been working in partnership since July 2011.

We are extremely proud to be the premier provider of this qualification to the Water Babies network

The new qualification titled; ASA Level 2 Extended Diploma in Coaching Learn to Swim (prefundamentals) (QCF) is the first of its kind to provide high quality, specialist training to instructors within the Water Babies national franchise network which will enable them to advance their skills, knowledge and qualities to a world class level.

Approved by SkillsActive; the sector skills council for sport and recreation and accredited by Ofqual as a national recognised vocational qualification, the new Diploma will be launched through the ASA’s premier training provider, IoS Training, to the existing Water Babies instructors from June 2012 to ensure a consistent standard of training across the network.  This will then be followed by a subsequent launch as the future training pathway for all new Water Babies instructors from September 2012.

With over 350 instructors already employed by Water Babies across the country - and growing - the new qualification plays a pivotal role in the ongoing recruitment, training, support and retention of the workforce for the company’s thriving, vibrant business.

Kelly Gaffney, National Programmes and Partnership Manager for IoS Training says; “We are extremely proud to be the premier provider of this qualification to the Water Babies network. The Diploma will allow both existing and new Water Babies instructors to challenge their own personal development, taking ownership and responsibility for leading the industry and being world class in their field. We are happy to work in partnership to support and develop their learners along their pathway to success.”

Steve Franks, Managing Director of Water Babies Ltd, says; “Across Water Babies we often use the term ‘world class’ to describe our instructors without fully understanding and appreciating the responsibility that comes with it. However, we have now managed to create a world class qualification that will become a benchmark standard for our industry sector. This has been achieved through a unique and collaborative partnership with the ASA and IoS, who have demonstrated true leadership and outstanding performance in their determination to meet our expectations as a leading growth business within the aquatic industry sector.”
