2012… the year to make a Big Splash for charity!
There are a whole host of reasons to get excited during 2012, with the London Olympic Games making its way to the capital this summer and the world’s biggest fundraising swim coming to a pool near you this April!
One of the best ways to inspire your friends and family into the pool is to sign up for a team challenge such as the Big Splash Mile for Sport Relief, part of the Swimathon Weekend, which is taking place from 27 to 29 April. Let’s make sure 2012 is the year of swimming by encouraging everyone to take the plunge!
By swimming together you can make your mile count by raising money for people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and across some of the world’s poorest countries. Over the last year, money raised by Sport Relief has provided access to clean water for almost 52,000 people living in slums. But it is not just overseas where your money makes a difference, as here in the UK just £10 could give expert advice to a person living with dementia to improve their quality of life.
If you want to go to further lengths for charity, there’s also the chance to tackle the Swimathon 2.5k, 5k or Team 5k challenges to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
