Nicola Latty lands 200m Fly gold at 2017 Worlds

Nicola Latty captured her second gold of the 2017 World Masters Championships on the penultimate day of competition in Budapest.

The Holywell swimmer raced to the 45-49 Yrs 200m Butterfly title in Hungary, adding to her victory from the 400m IM earlier in the week.

Latty has an impressive international record in the 200m Fly, winning the world title in the 40-44 Yrs age group three years ago and the European 45-49 Yrs crown in London last year.

And she added another World Championship gold with a 2:33.83 effort in Budapest, finishing more than 2.5 seconds clear of Germany’s Claudia Thielemann.

Hattle, Mills and Jackson secure 200m Fly silvers

The British women added another three silvers in the 200m Fly as Judith Hattle, Sally Mills and Pat Jackson reached the podium.

Carlisle Aquatics swimmer Hattle picked up a fourth silver in the 55-59 Yrs age group, stopping the clock on 2:50.07.

Mills took down a 13-year old British record as she finished second in the 60-64 Yrs age group.

The Mid Sussex Marlins swimmer came home in 3:11.20, repeating her result from the same event at last year’s European Championships in London, although swimming a full 16 seconds faster than a year ago.

Jackson improved on her bronze from the 100m Fly to land silver in the 70-74 Yrs age group. The East Anglian Swallow Tails swimmer clocked 4:10.28 for her medal.

In the men’s 200m Fly, British swimmers Paul Wilkes and Simon Emm won their first medals of the 2017 Worlds.

Redditch’s Wilkes took silver in the 30-34 Yrs age group, clocking 2:09.09. Meanwhile, Colchester swimmer Emm captured bronze in the 50-54 Yrs age group, finishing in 2:29.95.
