Three records drop on opening night in Manchester

The opening night’s 800m Freestyle saw three records smashed at the 2015 British Swimming Masters and Senior Age Group Championships in Manchester.

East Leeds’ Kirsten Cameron kicked off her campaign with a European record to take gold in the 40-44 Yrs Age Group, clocking 9:06.86 as the fastest swimmer in any of the women’s age groups.

Silver City swimmer June Falconer set a British record for victory in the 50-54 Yrs Age Group with the top three finishers all beating the old British marker of 10:49.74.

Falconer ultimately took gold in 10:39.00 ahead of Hibernian’s Dymphna Morris (10:39.65) and East Leeds’ Karen Graham (10:44.40).

Finally, Everton’s Mark Jones took down a 17-year old British record in the men’s 55-59 Yrs Age Group to claim his first gold of the meet in 10:02.68.
