17th November 2011

Team GB legends, celebrity ambassadors and representatives from over 150 UK charities will take part in a key test event at the Olympic Stadium, hosted by Gold Challenge on Sunday 1 April 2012.

Gold Challenge is a nationwide fundraising initiative that encourages people who have been inspired by London 2012 to get active and raise money for one of the Gold Challenge’s 150 charity partners.

The Gold Challenge and Team GB event is a unique thank you to star fundraisers, giving them a once in a lifetime chance to run 100m at the Olympic Stadium watched by friends, family and a cheering crowd of 20,000.

On the day several thousand adults and children will take part in a Gold Challenge parade as well as competing in fiercely contested races. The event, which will also test crucial aspects of the Olympic venue and operation ahead of the Games, will culminate in a number of crowd-pleasing celebrity and athlete races and a show spectacular.

Gold Challenge, one of the official London 2012 legacy projects is partnered with Team GB, the British Olympic Association and Sport England and is the UK’s first Olympic and Paralympic sport based charity challenge.
