The British Gas Duel in the Pool has officially sold out with thousands of tickets for the unique event having been snapped up but millions of viewers will still get the chance to see all of the action live on the BBC.
The BBC will showcase next month’s thriller as the combined forces of Great Britain, Italy and Germany come together, under the team title of E-Stars, in a head-to-head battle with the might of the U.S.
Viewers will get to see arguably history’s greatest Olympian in American Michael Phelps competing in British waters for the first time but the U.S. will face fierce competition from the likes of Britain’s Becky Adlington, Liam Tancock and Gemma Spofforth.
E-Stars comprises 14 British, 14 Italian and eight German swimmers and will take on the U.S., the world’s number one swimming nation, at the Manchester Aquatic Centre on 18th and 19th December.
Live coverage on the BBC is available from 7pm on Friday 18th December on BBC3 while on Saturday 19th December the action begins at 1.45pm on BBC1.
British Gas, principle partner of British Swimming, is the headline sponsor of the event, which provides a unique opportunity for fans to see the world’s greatest swimmers going head-to-head for supremacy in the pool.
Both teams will include up to 18 men and 18 women with British Swimming, Germany and Italy sending a combined team for the short course (25m) meet.
