Swim yourself into shape for the party season

25th October 2011

With less than two months until Christmas, the countdown to the office party season is on.

And going hand-in-hand with the party season is the party season diet, with research from Atkins finding nearly two thirds of women between 25-35 years old try to shift weight at this time of year.

Well luckily for you, we know a few things about shaping up at British Gas Swimfit.

And as our Swimfit blogger Gareth recently discovered, six weeks is more than enough time to make a visible difference to your figure.

SHAPE UP AND TONE

The ‘Shape Up and Tone’ section of MySwimfit features 32 expertly crafted pool sessions, as well as technique tips and advice, designed to help you make the most of your swim.

Adding variety to your fitness routine is vital for maintaining your motivation and with 32 progressive sessions, there’s something different to test you each time.

FANCY A CHALLENGE?

If the structure of pre-written swim sessions isn’t your thing, you can set yourself a distance challenge to complete in the next six weeks.

Do you think you can swim the length of Coniston Water (5 miles) in six weeks? Log your distance swam in each session and MySwimfit Challenges tracks your progress on a Google Map.

Remember, even the most dedicated fitness routine will do little for your figure if it’s not accompanied by a balanced diet to boot so click here to check out our healthy eating tips.

Anything else?

As well as a great way to shape up and tone, swimming is an ideal activity for the winter months; it will release hormones to keep you smiling despite the dark and cold weather and will help relieve the stress of buying presents, cooking huge roast dinners and throwing New Years Eve parties.

Even if you can’t make it to the pool every night, one 30 minutes swim every week is better than going without!
