Amanda Booth selected for Gold Coast Coach Internship Programme

Swim England is delighted to announce that Amanda Booth has been selected for the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Women’s Coach Internship Programme for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Team England endorsed the application to the CGF. Booth, who is Head Coach at City of Oxford, secured one of 20 places for all sports and nations.

The role will see Booth working with the Swim England coaching team for the Gold Coast, as an integral part of the team.

Booth commented on her selection: “I am delighted and excited to have been offered a position on the CGF Women’s Coach Internship Programme.

“This appointment will give me invaluable experience of working with senior international swimmers. I will also have a chance to work with high-performance coaches and support staff at a multi-sport Games.

“I am looking forward to being part of Team England and being able to share my experiences on my return with the swimmers, other female coaches and in my work next season as a coach advisor.”

Swimming Team Leader Grant Robins said: “We are incredibly fortunate and privileged to gain a place on this programme. Amanda will be a great asset to our support staff. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.”

Booth is currently one of 15 coaches currently on the Swim England Coach 2024 programme.  This is a 14-month development opportunity for swimming coaches working within the England Talent Pathway. It supports the wider vision of raising the quality of coaching in England to ensure swimmers are supported to reach their full potential

About the Women’s Coach Internship Programme

The Commonwealth Games Federation has initiated a Women’s Coach Internship Programme at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. This is being run in partnership with Griffith University.

The aim of the programme is to provide more opportunities for fully integrate a female coach in their coaching teams for the Gold Coast.
