Hat-trick for Hibbott on day three in Sheffield

Day three of the 2014 National Age Group Championships belonged to Holly Hibbott as the Southport swimmer scooped a first, a second, and then a third gold over two sessions of swimming.

After safely securing the 800m Free title in the afternoon session, the 14-year old added golds over 200m Free and 200m Fly to move to eight medals (six golds, two silvers) from the first three days.

“The 800 was just about winning it and saving enough for tonight’s swims,” said Hibbott. “I was pretty tired afterwards but I knew I had to keep tough and do my best tonight.

“That 200 Fly was tight but I just kept my head down and went as fast as I could. I’m pretty pleased with that.”

Third golds for Judge and Grobbelaar

In the youngest age group, Hillingdon’s Brodie Judge and Barracudas’ Luan Evert Grobbelaar bagged their third golds of the meet with victories in the 200m Freestyle and 400m IM respectively.

Meanwhile, in the 13 Yrs Age Group, there were impressive performances from Guildford City’s Max Jameson in the 200m Back and Barnet Copthall’s Meghan Byrne in the 200m Free.

Millfield rounded off the night with victory in the Boys’ 4x200m Freestyle Relay.
