Hibbott and Faulkner book place in 400 Freestyle final

The final heats session of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games saw four more swimmers and the relay team book their place in the finals.

After narrowly missing out on a bronze in the 800m on day five, Stockport’s Holly Hibbott comfortably won her 400m Freestyle heat.

Teammate Ellie Faulkner (City of Sheffield) came second in her heat behind Australian Ariarne Titmuss. Faulkner posted the second fastest time overall in 4:11.19, with Hibbott third quickest over the eight lengths in 4:11.65.

Lewis White and Jacob Leach both qualified for the S9 100m Backstroke. They touched the wall in fifth (1:07.38) and sixth (1:07.81) respectively.

The men’s 4x100m Medley Relay team eased their place in the last finals event of the meet. Eliiot Clogg, James Wilby, Jacob Peters and David Cumberlidge finished off their events in style, posting 3:36.68 behind Australia in 3:33.61.

Litchfield and Parkinson miss out on final

In the men’s 200m IM Loughborough’s Jarvis Parkinson posted his fastest heats swim of the season in 2:02.85, with City of Sheffield’s Joe Litchfield matching Parkinson’s fourth place heat finish in 2:01.78. But in a fast field, both missed out on a place in today’s final.
