Hibbott and Hutchison star on day two of NAGs 2014

Holly Hibbott and Charlie Hutchison were the star perfomers on the second day of the British Gas ASA National Age Group Swimming Championships 2014 as they both claimed double gold.

Hibbott – who already had one gold and two silvers in the 14 Yrs Age Group from the opening day – landed the 100m Butterfly title then anchored Southport’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay quartet to victory in the last race of the day.

Ellesmere College Titans swimmer Hutchison won his first NAGS medals in the 11/12 Yrs Age Group, smashing his PB by 25 seconds to win the afternoon’s 1500m Freestyle.

He then returned to the top step of the podium with a PB in the 200m Butterfly.

Hutchison commented on his performances: “I always thought I could get a good time in the 200 Fly and pull it out but that was a good performance.

“I wasn’t so sure about the 1500 because there were two heats before me. The other 12 year old swam a great time – a 30 second PB – and I had to wait through two heats thinking how am I going to do this. But I managed to do it and that’s all the hard work and training coming through.”

Other impressive performances came from Bridgend County’s Rebecca Sutton, who sailed under the five minute mark for the first time to win 13 Yrs 400m Individual Medley gold, and City of Leeds’ Layla Black, who landed the 14 Yrs 200m Breaststroke title despite not turning 14 until Saturday.
