Jessica-Jane Applegate blitzes new world record in final session of National Champs

Jessica-Jane Applegate set her third world record of the weekend with a blistering performance in the 200m Freestyle in the fourth session of the National Para-Swimming Championships (25m) 2017.

Applegate, who won S14 Paralympic gold over 200m Free at London 2012, was nearly seven seconds faster than her existing short course world record, set in 2014.

The 21-year old stopped the clock on 2:03.71 in Manchester, adding to her world records over 100m Free and 100m Fly earlier in the meet.

There were also two European records in the final session as Lewis White and Jordan Catchpole impressed.

Catchpole had already set European 100m Fly and British 100m Back records on day two in Manchester.

And the UEA swimmer starred again with a PB 1:57.55 to take down the S14 European record over 200m Free.

Meanwhile, White broke the European S9 400m Freestyle marker.

The City of Derby swimmer, who won Paralympic bronze in this event at Rio 2016, took his personal best down to 4:11.26.
