Qualification window for Swim England Summer Meet 2019 revealed

Swimming News

The qualification window for the 2019 Swim England National Summer Meet has been revealed.

Entry to the event, the British Summer Championships and other home nation competitions is by invitation only based on performances in the qualification window, which will run from 22 March 2019 and 27 May 2019 (inclusive).

The British Summer Championships and the three respective home nation summer meets form part of the broader Performance Pathway Strategy to supporting junior talent across Great Britain on their journey towards senior medal-winning international performances.

The dates of the ‘window’ for the end of season summer meets are set annually by the cross-Home Nations and British Swimming Performance Implementation Group (PIG).

Looking ahead to 2020 qualification window

Entry to the summer meets will be accepted from competitors registered as members of Swim England, Scottish Swimming or Swim Wales.

British Swimming will continue with the development introduced this year of publishing weekly rankings lists once the qualifying window opens. A final draft rankings list will then be published once the window has closed.

Meanwhile, the qualification window may close earlier in 2020.

Following feedback from the competitive swimming community, there is a desire to close the window earlier to limit the cross over with school exams and allow for a longer run in and training block once the window has closed to the end of season domestic meets.

This year’s Swim England National Summer Meet takes place at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Pool over five days from 31 July to 4 August.
