Swim England

A nation swimming

Join us for a week of celebrating our dedicated aquatics volunteers

Swim England News

This week we are celebrating the hard work and dedication of all our aquatics volunteers from across the country as part of the national Volunteers’ Week campaign.

Like many sports, swimming relies on volunteers for many different things. They support us in running our national events and help out at their local clubs. Our volunteers are integral to the success of our sports.

Swim England is hugely grateful to all of the passionate and dedicated volunteers who give up their time to support us.

Whether you are a parent who helps out at your child’s club once a week, or a volunteer who attends every one of our national events, you make the difference.

Our Volunteer Engagement Manager Steph Matthews said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport. Without the hard work and commitment of these dedicated individuals, swimming simply wouldn’t be the successful sport that it is.

“Whether it’s helping on a committee, coaching or handing out refreshments at a gala, every contribution goes a long way. Volunteers Week offers us a fantastic opportunity to remind all of our volunteers that they really do make a difference!”

How can you make a difference?

Volunteers’ Week runs from the 1-7 June each year. It sees a diverse selection of organisations thanking their volunteers with social media messages and events. Last year more than 900 events were added to the Volunteers’ Week map.

Although the main message is about celebrating volunteers, the campaign also aims to inspire other people to get involved. The question posed to you this week, is ‘how can you make a difference?’

Over the course of the week we will be sharing some stories which highlight just some of the amazing work done by our volunteers. We hope that these stories might inspire you.
