Entries open for Community Sport and Recreation Awards
10 February 2017The Sports and Recreation Alliance have announced the 2017 round of Community Sport and Recreation Awards are now open.
The Community Sport and Recreation Awards recognise grassroots projects which provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds to develop new skills, make lifelong friends and have fun.
From schools and local clubs through to community schemes, the awards recognise some of the great work which has taken place over the past year.
The winners of each of the four categories will receive an award and £1,000.
The categories are:
- Professional Community Programme of the Year
This award will be presented to an inspirational group or club who have increased participation in sport and recreation through their activities or a specific community project. - Volunteering
This award will be presented to a club with an amazing volunteer programme that could be seen by other clubs and organisations as a role model. - Added Social Value
This award will be presented to a club, organisation or group that has worked to unite a community and helped to deliver extra skills or abilities to those who become involved. - Innovation
This award will be presented to a club who has created a new initiative, campaign or programme that has driven both participation and frequency to underrepresented groups to sport or physical activity
The winners will be presented with their award at a ceremony hosted by HRH the Earl of Wessex.
