Event Volunteer Programme celebrated at National Synchro Champs

After a successful 12 months, the volunteers on the ASA’s Event Volunteer Programme (EVP) 2015 / 2016 were celebrated at last weekend’s ASA National Synchronised Swimming Championships in Nottingham.

The Event Volunteer Programme was a national programme delivered by the ASA designed to develop volunteers in event management roles across the disciplines, and to ensure we have the highest quality individuals delivering events throughout the UK.

Since April 2015, the five EVP programme volunteers, Constance Ryland, Kelly Podbury, Brett Baston, Samantha Watson and Lizzie Edgecombe have had access to face to face training days, ASA staff support and placements at the ASA’s national events.

This year, the volunteers have been focused in the areas of sports presentation, media and marketing, timing and recording, results distribution and biographies.

They have developed their experience and had the opportunity to learn from the ASA’s knowledgeable volunteers and staff.

The volunteers have attended events such as the ASA Summer Nationals, ASA National Winter Meet, UK School Games and the ASA National County Team Championships.

Constance, Kelly, Brett, Samantha and Lizzy were invited to volunteer at the National Synchro Champs, where they were presented with an award by ASA President John Bird to recognise their achievements over the last year.

Congratulations to the candidates

“Congratulations to the five EVP candidates from the 2015/16 programme,” said ASA Events Manager Ekaterina Boyd. She continued:

Over the last 12 months they have become valuable members of the ASA’s dedicated event volunteering team and we look forward to working with them on many future events.

Our volunteer workforce are integral to running successful events. We simply couldn’t do it without them.

We’re always excited to welcome new volunteers to the team and, whether you have event or aquatic experience or not, we would love to hear from you!
