Swim England expresses condolences at the passing of Mandy Hunt

Swim England is sad to report that Amanda (Mandy) Hunt passed away on 20 February 2017.

Mandy worked for many years as an official for Derbyshire ASA. She was also a respected member of the Midland District judiciary panel where her experience as a JP was invaluable.

She was deeply involved in open water swimming. Her two daughters, Sarah and Carole, were the first twins to successfully swim across the English Channel in 1988 in 9 hours 29 minutes.

They were also the first twins to compete in the 1990 36 km Capri/Naples marathon race in Italy. They were also inducted in 1994 as honour swimmers in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.

Mandy was married to the late Dr David Hunt. He was a founder member of Rykneld SC. He was also former chairman of the ASA medical committee and a great servant of Derbyshire ASA, the Midland District ASA and ASA East Midland region.

Our thoughts are with Mandy’s family and friends at this time.
