The Swim England Learn to Swim Accreditation Programme31 March 2017
The Swim England Learn to Swim Accreditation Programme supports the continuous improvement of learn to swim programmes.
It sets industry standards for the delivery of learn to swim and can assure parents, customers and leisure managers that your provision follows the Swim England good practice guidelines.
Learn to Swim Accreditation Criteria
To achieve Swim England Learn to Swim Accreditation providers must be able to demonstrate they are consistently applying the accreditation criteria.
- your business development processes,
- minimum operating standards,
- swimmer pathways,
- class structures and programmes,
- marketing of learn to swim programme
- quality assurance and customer satisfaction.
How to become accredited

- Assess whether your learn to swim provision reaches the required standard.
- If not (yet), create and apply an action plan to ensure you can achieve the accreditation.
- Once you have reached the minimum criteria, you can apply for a site assessment visit
Choosing your assessment route
Providers can choose to be assessed in one of two ways. The costs and choices for assessment are below. Simply click or tap the choices for more detail.

This is completed in partnership with Right Directions. It involves a one day site visit by an assessor experienced in running learn to swim programmes and assessing industry standards.It is suitable for:
- Swim schools
- Local authority leisure providers

This allows you to apply as part of your Sport England Quest assessment process. Providers who use Sport England’s Quest programme can apply through the Quest Plus programme.
Simply choose Swim England Learn to Swim Accreditation and Swimming Lessons as part of your Quest Plus optional modules.

Accredited Provider logo and certificate
Once accredited you will receive a certificate and be able to use the Swim England Accredited Provider logo. This quality mark can be used on your promotional material to differentiate your provision and help parents and learners identify you as an accredited provider.
Who can apply for accreditation?
The Swim England Learn to Swim Accreditation is available to all organisations in England delivering a learn to swim programme.
This includes swim schools, school swimming programmes, local authority operators, leisure trusts, private leisure providers and multi-site organisations.
If your organisation wishes to accredit four or more sites you will be eligible for a multi-site assessment where 20% of your sites will be assessed, with a minimum of four sites needed to be assessed to achieve the accreditation.
