Swim England appoints Sue Smith as Group Board Director

Sue Smith has been appointed as Swim England Group Board Director.

Sue is currently Chairman of the Graven Hill Village Development Company, which is delivering the UKs largest self-build housing development. Her innovative and entrepreneurial way of thinking has led a number of councils to win awards for their work across a range of disciplines.

Sue commented on her appointment: “I am honoured and delighted to be joining the Group Board at such an important time in the organisation’s long history.”

Chairman of the Group Board Mike Farrar said: “We are very pleased to appoint Sue as Swim England Group Board Director. Her appointment follows a rigorous selection process with some very strong candidates.

“Sue has a strong background in the public sector and is a highly experienced leader. We are particularly keen to draw on her skills and experience from working in Local Government, facilities and leisure management, along with her knowledge of good governance and organisational transformation.

“On behalf of Swim England, I would like to welcome Sue to the organisation, and I look forward to working with her with immediate effect.”

Sue brings a wealth of experience in the public sector, after 37 years of employment by local authorities. She built her career from the ground, starting as a Recreation Assistant and spending her last 12 years in a Chief Executive role. She is also a Chartered Director and Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
