Changes to governance structure approved

Swim England News

Swim England will become an incorporated organisation with charitable status following a decision at the organisation’s Annual Council meeting last month.

Members voted unanimously to form a new Company Limited by Guarantee. Confirmation has since been received that charitable status will also be granted.

Jane Nickerson, Swim England CEO, said: “We have always prided ourselves on ensuring we follow good governance and that we meet the changing needs of the sport.

“To support the implementation of our four year strategy, Towards a Nation Swimming, and in line with Sport England’s Code for Sports Governance, we wanted to move to an incorporated structure to ensure we are an organisation that is truly fit for the future. I believe this new structure will do just that and look forward to working with our new Board.”

New governance structure

The new structure will see the current two Board structure replaced with a single Board. This will include an independent Chairperson, four nominated directors, three independent and two specialist directors and the CEO and CFO.

A new Members Forum will also be established with Regional and Club representatives.
