Creswell Leisure Centre makes a splash with British Gas Swimfit
14th September 2010
Creswell Leisure Centre in Bolsover this week launched British Gas Swimfit at their Derbyshire pool.
The ASA’s British Gas Swimfit programme is a free-to-use gym-style initiative for the pool. The website www.swimfit.com allows swimmers to set their own goals and log all the swimming that they do.
We are pleased to be working with Creswell Leisure Centre on delivering the Swimfit programme.
Swimfit also provides poolside units with laminated session cards to allow pool-users to choose a session suitable for them.
The launch at Creswell Leisure Centre included demonstrations of the Swimfit session cards which swimmers at the Leisure Centre could join in with.
There was also a more relaxed session where participants could try the cards out for themselves and receive stroke techniques advice and tips from swimming experts.
There was a real mix of ages and abilities proving that Swimfit has something to offer everyone. All participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves and there were some very rosy cheeks by the end of it!
They were all keen to come back and try out the sessions again in their own time.
Kevin Tann, ASA County Swimming Coordinator for Derbyshire, said: “We are pleased to be working with Creswell Leisure Centre on delivering the Swimfit programme. They have excellent links within the local community which will hopefully get more people swimming more often.”
