Dramatic European Team Free routine to end champs

GB synchro squad put in a powerful performance in the European Team Free event to finish off their London 2016 campaign.

Earlier in the day, Olivia Federici and Katie Clarke also made an impression, taking their ‘Good and Evil’ routine over the 80 point marker for the first time.

GB execute European Team Free in style

They seemed to thrive on the atmosphere at the London Aquatics Centre, seemingly driven by the home crowd who were making plenty of noise at the day five finals.

They stayed in the same position they had qualified in during the prelims, but improved their score, finishing in eighth place with 79.0000.

Federici, who had taken to the pool for the second time that day, confirmed that the crowd had been a factor in their improvement from yesterday’s prelims.

She said, “It was a really good end to the week for us. The crowd was just amazing and knowing they were behind us was just incredible,”

“We had a team get-together following our prelim swim and we all agreed we could really push it to that next level.” – Olivia Federici

“We really wanted to put our passion into that performance and really bring it for the crowd and I think we achieved that.”

GB duet take ninth place in Duet Tech

New partnership, Federici and Clarke, performed a strong rendition of their ‘Good and Evil routine to Mint Royale’s ‘Singing in the Rain’.

The host team’s duet added over three points to their score at the Olympic Qualification Tournament, receiving a total score of 80.4751 from the judges.

“We’re really happy with the score,” said Clark. “We’ve still got a lot to improve on for the next few months but we’re definitely improving at every competition and it’s really encouraging to see our score creep past the 80 point mark.”
