Entries open for 2018 Combo Cup

Entries are now open for the Swim England 2018 Synchro Combo Cup at the London Aquatics Centre.

The Combo Cup takes place on Saturday 7 July and is a unique event in the synchronised swimming calendar as it only features free combination performances.

It is contested over two divisions and five age groups – 12 and under, 13-15 years, 15-18 years, 13-18 years and 15 and under.

The event is expected to attract some of the best young swimmers from across the country.

Medals are handed out to the winners of each contest, while the club with the largest total score across all competitions will take home the Combo Cup.

Last year, City of Salford lifted the inaugural Swim England Synchro Combo Cup after winning three golds and a bronze at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Thrilling routines

The North West club scored 294.2333 points to finish ahead of City of Leeds (271.0334) and Rugby (227.2001) in the overall rankings.

Clubs can enter more than one team in one age group of a division as long as their first registered team has the maximum number of competitors. However, swimmers can only enter one free combination event.

The free combination is the most thrilling synchro routine, with up to 10 swimmers in the pool at one time moving in unison to high tempo music and performing impressive throws and lifts.

The Division 1 age groups are open to teams featuring swimmers who hold up to Swim England Figure Grade 3 – or Grade 2 for the 12 & Under Age Group.

Meanwhile, the Division 2 age groups will be contested by teams featuring swimmers who hold at least Swim England Figure Grade 3 – or Grade 2 for the 12 & Under Age Group.
