Get ready for the Synchro National Age Group Champs 2017

The Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships are taking place this weekend (25-26 November) at GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester.

The National Age Group Championships is the top level domestic competition for up-and-coming synchronised swimmers. The event features three age groups; 12yrs and under, 13-15yrs and 15-18yrs.

There are four events contested by each age group; Figures, Solo, Duet and Team. Each event brings its own set of challenges – and to claim a clean sweep of titles, athletes must be at the top of their game.

GB Duet to perform at 2017 Champs

Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe will be performing a display of their duet routine on Sunday 26 November following the 12yrs and under Team competition.

Shortman and Thorpe were once the ones to beat at the National Age Group Champs – and have now catapulted their way onto the world stage. The teenage duo competed at their debut World Championships earlier this year. They finished 16th in the duet event with a personal best score, 82.5667.

Whistle-stop tour of 2016 Champs

The 2016 National Age Group Championships was a very successful event for Reading Royals. Two of their swimmers claimed clean sweeps in two age groups.

Swim England Talent Athlete of the Year Award winner Mimi Gray took gold in the 13-15yrs Solo, Duet and Team events. At 13-years-old, she was one of the younger athletes in the field. Her club mate, Eleanor Blinkhorn did likewise. Her hat-trick was won in the 12yrs and under age group. The club was also awarded the Mrs Y M Price Trophy for its swimmers’ combined figures and free team scores.

City of Bristol also impressed the judges. The club brought home a total of 15 medals over the three day competition,. This included four gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.

The Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships features England’s top junior synchronised swimmers.

If you would like to come along and watch the action unfold, you can buy tickets online or on the door. Please note, there is a 10 per cent discount if you buy tickets in advance of the competition.
