Greta Hampson completes day one hat-trick in Nottingham

Greta Hampson completed a remarkable golden hat-trick as she won Solo Free gold on the opening day of the Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Championships 2018.

The City of Bristol swimmer had already picked up the Tech Solo and Tech Duet crowns in Nottingham.

But Hampson saved her best performance for the third event of the day, scoring 73.8000 for her free routine.

Hampson became the second City of Bristol swimmer to lift the Helen Elkington Trophy in as many years, following on from last year’s champion Kate Shortman, who went on to reach the World Championship final.

The result also saw her add the senior national title to her win in the 15-18 Years age group of last year’s National Age Group Championships.

Echoing the outcome of the NAG Championships, Hampson’s duet teammate Daniella Lloyd pushed her closest to take silver.

Lloyd scored 69.8667 for her routine, while Reading Royals’ National Age Group 13 – 15 Years Solo champion Mimi Gray scored 68.2667 for bronze.
