Randall and Cowie make Duet debut at Worlds

Genevieve Randall and Jodie Cowie impressed to finish 24th in their first World Championship performance as a Duet pair in Kazan, Russia.

Competing in the Duet Tech prelims, the 17-year olds added more than 2.5 points to their score from last year’s Europeans to secure a top 25 finish on 74.6512.

It’s a daunting prospect swimming after Spain and Russia but the girls handled the pressure well.

The girls scored 22.1000 for execution, 22.6000 for impression and an elements score of 29.9512.

“There is an exceptionally high standard at this competition,” said coach Katie Dawkins, who swam for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games as well as the 2009 and 2011 World Championships.

“It’s a daunting prospect swimming after Spain and Russia but the girls handled the pressure well and pulled off a good performance.”

Randall and Cowie will be back in action on Tuesday for the Duet Free prelims.
