Rushmoor reclaim national Tech Team crown

Rushmoor won the national Technical Team title for the first time in four years at the 2017 National Synchronised Swimming Championships.

The Hampshire club boast a proud history at the senior nationals but have finished second for the past three seasons, agonisingly missing out last year after scoring 0 for one of their elements.

But they returned to the top of the podium in fine style in Nottingham, racking up an impressive 68.2206 to take gold.

The victory brought their second team title of the event, having also won the Free Combination on the opening day in Nottingham.

Rushmoor’s score, awarded for their routine to ‘Footloose’ by Kenny Loggins, would have won them gold at each of the last three Championships, and was the highest club score in this event since their own winning tally of 68.6670 in 2009.

While City of Bristol settled for silver, they put in an excellent performance to Michael Jackson’s ‘They Don’t Really Care About Us’.

Bristol added more than two points to their gold medal-winning tally from 12 months ago, scoring 66.6823. City of Leeds repeated their result from the Free Combination to land bronze, scoring 63.8378.
